Day 1 DFI

Day one of the DFI was a great experience. Even though I felt a litle left behind I managed to complete most of the tasks and be on time to all the group meetings. I enjoyed learning to use Google docs to a greater level than just writing a letter/ message. The use of the explore and how to use titles will be of use and look forward in teaching my students these skills. 
The use of the referencing tool will be useful for my senior students who are heading off to university at the end of the year.

This is my first blog ever and looking forward to the next 8 weeks of this coarse learning some new skills to pass onto my students.

    How wonderful to see your first post appear on your blog! You had a wonderful start to our Digital Fluency Intensive online and I can see you are clearly connecting with what the intensive has to offer. You've made a great start with your Google doc as well. Next, it would be good to experiment more and see if you can create a simple poster by adding your graphics and then changing the line colour so that they are hidden. I really enjoyed the authentic purpose you chose for your document.
    I hope in week 2 you feel a bit more on the front foot. Please remember that we want you to get the most out of this opportunity, so please make contact if you would like help with anything. Which tool do you think was the most helpful from week one? How have you put it into practice, so far? Well done again on your first week of DFI and embracing the challenge! See you next week!

Each day with the course I become more confident in talking and presenting amongst my group. It’s good to put myself in the student’s shoes and is a good reminder when I am designing pieces of work to remember to slow things down to accommodate for students that could be lacking in confidence or even just need more time to process things. Like myself! Teaching my students to blog and record their processes is a good way of recording evidence and communicating with stakeholders etc. Using feedback to inform their decisions.

The importance of creative thinking! Initiating creative minds and how we can promt our students to start thinking this way. Sorting Youtube channel. Create playlists is a helpful tool in organising material for each difent class,this will save a whole lot of random searching. Creating an account for you tube and making it suitable for your students. Organising into playlists. SISOMO sight sound motion We Video is a tool I have used before but would like to revisit and up skill to create some usable teaching tools. Manaiakalani film festival sounds cool and we could be interested. Slides to be consistant through out making sure text size and fonts are the same. We had great fun designing our slide to make an animation. Im sure the students will love working with this. This is my peice of work.
